USAW TAKES THE PLATFORM AT TYR WODAPALOOZA SOCAL

Weightlifting is stepping into the spotlight at TYR Wodapalooza SoCal. In a new partnership between USA Weightlifting and TYR Wodapalooza, the festival will now feature a standalone USAW-sanctioned competition. The goal is simple: bring the sport’s most explosive lifts into the heart of one of fitness’ most electric environments.

Elite Lifting Meets Festival Energy

More than an exhibition, this will function as a fully sanctioned competition, built on the foundation of TYR Wodapalooza and executed with the precision and professionalism of USA Weightlifting. Four platforms, certified referees, national qualification stakes, and the kind of crowd energy few lifting events have ever experienced. Picture max-effort snatches and clean and jerks under the Southern California sun, surrounded by music, movement, and a high-energy audience.

How It Works

The event runs over two days, with six hours of competition each day, and four platforms operating simultaneously. Each platform will be staffed by certified USAW referees and adhere to national-level competition standards.

Each athlete is given 30 minutes to complete their best snatch and their best clean and jerk. Referees will log results on-site and submit them directly to the competition manager.

Registration is limited to 96 total athletes. All participants must register through the USA Weightlifting website. A valid USAW membership is required. On-site sign-ups will also be available for those ready to compete on the day of the event.

Qualifying Opportunity

Athletes will earn qualifying totals toward USA Weightlifting Nationals. This is a real opportunity to make progress in the USAW competitive season while lifting in a dynamic environment.

Why It Matters

Olympic weightlifting is a pillar of CrossFit and functional fitness, but it rarely takes center stage. TYR Wodapalooza SoCal changes that. This competition gives lifters the platform, crowd, and visibility they deserve. It also gives the TYR Wodapalooza community a new way to engage with a sport that many already train in but have never seen in this form.

This collaboration marks the beginning of a long-term vision. Plans are already underway to expand this format to TYR Wodapalooza Miami in 2026.

What’s Next

With only 96 spots available, athletes will need to move quickly. Whether you're competing or watching, TYR Wodapalooza SoCal x USAW is set to deliver something powerful.
